Hello Everyone, It's almost that time again...
The 6th International Soul Music Summit 2011 is ONLY 3 months away! It's a cultural heaven for artists, musicians, retailers, consumers, executives, bloggers and fans of good music. Literally every aspect of the 'music industry' will be in attendance. With the total registration of panelist, artist & guest, the 2011 ISMS is estimated to peak at 4,200+ attendees.
Every artist who makes the pilgrimage to Atlanta for all of the festivities need to take every opportunity in front of them if they want to make ISMS a truly worthwhile investment in their career. Not just through showcasing their talents, but by being personable and outgoing. The people artists can meet at ISMS could change their lives and career paths forever! There are so many people with insight, connections, and/or influence who have come in the name of good music to share their knowledge and experience!
Now, being a true realist, I don't want to put it in your mind that if an artist go out there and shake everyone's hand, they will be the next super-star. Unfortunately, that's just not realistic. However, the opportunity to learn, to make some new connections and to gain some new fans is VERY real!
So, I want to reach out to YOU, the ISMS community of artists, bloggers and readers, to help put together a checklist for EVERYONE, so they can truly make this ISMS an EPIC experience! I've broken the Checklist into four categories:

How you can Help us:
Facebook: help us by sending facebook blasts about the Summit to raise awareness in your own community. Sharing the links would be helpful or re-sending the messages from the ISMS facebook page
Twitter: Tweeting messages about the summit is a good way to converse directly with others about the Summit.
Logo your website:
Banner exchanges is always a mutually beneficial. Establishing your brand is essential to bringing more web awareness. Having your web banner and/or your link on our page will increase traffic and eventually lead to more fans.
Our banner on your web page will also be helpful for the marketing of the ISMS. Imagine the excitement it will generate if people recognized that logo on your site as well as countless others! send info out to your mailing list: direct contact with your constituents adds credibilty because you would have personally stamped the validity of the Summit. Remember YOU hold the key...without the artists there is not an ISMS! Once You've Arrived: There will be an info packet for you at the hotel when you arrive that will include local taxi company phone numbers and a shuttle schedule.
If you are promoting a site, company or yourself, bring all your info Invest in personal contact cards or business cards that best represent yourself, it’s golden
Have all personal documents, money and travelers checks in order
Make sure you photo copy all important documents and put them in the hotel safe
If you have any personal or professional people you want to contact, fire off an email a week before the event
If you plan on doing some site seeing via walking, take a good comfortable pair of shoes
Camera, video camera and back up batteries. Take care of your self before you go away…eat well and get plenty of sleep, especially if you are planning on going to the parties (and you are going to want to) Drink plenty of water, keep hydrated while you are there
Double check all your bags and pockets before packing, you don’t want an unexpected event at the airport.
Make sure people have a way of getting in contact with you. Remember to call your mother, let her know where you will be for the week. Double check your flight information and hotel accommodations before you leave, you don’t want to get there and find out it wasn’t booked right If you'll be driving, print out driving directions from each location you'll visit to the next (e.g., hotel to conference center; airport to hotel, etc.)
Before you go, re-confirm air, hotel, and rental car reservations. It's better to deal with problems ahead of time.
If you'll need Internet access at the meeting, determine if it's more cost effective to purchase it at a daily rate from the hotel or conference center; or whether it makes more sense to get a mobile access device for your computer. Bring a sturdy envelope or extra wallet to keep receipts. You will likely need to do a full accounting to get reimbursed when you return, and it's easier to have all receipts on hand.

Plan to arrive early or stay over an extra day to tour the Atlanta area – there is a lot to see and do! http://www.atlanta.com/
Lastly, have fun. You are going to want to take pictures and video to remember your amazing time.
